| 711 E Decatur Spokane WA 99208 June 20, 2006 Dear Hartill family member, I planned to send a mail in May but time did not allow it, so this will have to suffice. Any e-mail address I do no have, please send it on to me so I can mail to them, or share the URL with them yourself. As in years past we continue to meet the same time each year. Second Sunday of August. Everyone should have that date etched on their calendar, permanently. The 45th Hartill family picnic is scheduled to be at the Chewelah City Park this year, on Aug 12, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Hopefully, you will plan to come. Invite everyone in your family, because I am not mailing out snail mail letters. Each year too many letters came back to me. Each person share with a family member who may not have e-mail. It will be potluck as usual. Each family is asked to bring 2 items of food, (3 would be better for variety) one being a hot dish. Please bring your own Silverware, Plates & Beverages, and if you want a Tablecloth and folding chairs. Or bring some new item you found to share with us. Might find a recipe in our family cookbook. Remember your wrapped WHITE ELEPHANT for the AUCTION. The purpose of this is to build our expense fund for mailing expenses, door prizes and a charity project, plus it's just plain fun. I did not line up an auctioneer. I pray one simply materializes. Tom will be happy to if he is not in the hospital. Recipes for a supplement to our cookbook ~ If ample recipes ever materialize, enough to warrant it, we will print a supplement. Send recipes either to me or to Joann Jones, or bring to the picnic in August. Joann's address: (2122 Ferry St SW, Albany OR 97321-3918) [bumblebee425@msn.com] I finished updating the Chewelah Pioneer Cemetery again recently. I am so pleased to see how they continue to maintain it, and have added new sections. They lost their main worker, Carl Zeihen, this last year, so it may be even more difficult to obtain volunteer labor. Consider if you think we should donate to this cemetery again this year. There are not enough funds left to do as we have been donating in the past, unless we do something to get more money. When you arrive at the park watch for the big "Hartill Picnic" sign in the Chewelah Park. Carolyn Hartill said she and Bob Holford have a reservation made in the same spot as last year. Kathy and Howie Wynia have provided the door prizes for us. ~~~~~~~~~ 2005 Picnic minutes: We had only 25 in attendance, a very disappointing count. Tom Morris and Tim Miller handled the auctioneering responsibilities very well. It was discovered after much extra work by Bob and Carolyn, that we must reserve a picnic area annually. They will take care of it in 2006. M/S/C to donate $200.00 to the Chewelah Cemetery Association, leaving a balance of $48.22. M/S/C to continue to have our picnics at the Chewelah Park for now. Each one, please try to encourage the younger ones to come. The older members are having health problems, which stops their attendance at times. To those who have not been coming, "you will never get to know us unless you come and meet us. We really are all part of your family, and not all that different." Treasurer's Report:
*This account does not normally gain interest, but there was a bank error. The bank deposited some of my money into this account, and before I noticed it, it had earned interest, so I simply removed my money and left the interest. This does not reflect expenses for this year's picnic. Maggie Rail, sec/treas. |
