Dear Harthill/Hartill family members,

Just like last year, time is getting away from me. I am having fun, but letting my plate get too full. You might find repetition in case some family member is reading it for the first time, so keep that in mind…okay?

The 41st Hartill/Harthill family picnic is scheduled to be at the Chewelah City Park on the 2nd Sunday in August, which is August 12, 2001 at 1:00 PM. Hopefully you will plan to come. Invite anyone in your family, whose address I do not have. Each year many letters come back to me, so please keep me updated on address changes, snail and e-mail. . I am starting to weed out all those addresses that come back. If I ever get time I may place the addresses on line if it sounds appropriate, at least the e-mail addresses. Let me know what you think.

It will be potluck as usual. Check out the recipes in the Hartill Cookbook. Each family is asked to bring 2 items of food, (3 would be better for variety) one being a hot dish. Please bring your own Silverware, Plates & Beverages, and if you want a Tablecloth and folding chairs.

Remember your wrapped WHITE ELEPHANT for the AUCTION. The purpose of this is to have an expense fund for mailing expenses and door prize, now a charity project… plus it's just plain fun. Tom Morris started as our auctioneer last year, and then he turned it over to Katy Flottman, who was great. I guess we wait to see who will be willing to perform for us this year. We have several quite capable. In addition to this the Wynias have planned some surprise doorprizes. This you cannot take part in unless you sign in first. It is then that you will receive your ticket. This helps me with addresses.

We still have just three or four Cookbooks left. Cost - $10.00 ~ Continue to collect recipes for a supplement ~ When ample recipes come in to warrant it, we'll print it. Send recipes either to me or to Joann Jones. You could bring them to the picnic in August also. Joann's address: Ferry St SW, Albany OR 97321-3918

At the 2000 picnic we voted to send $200.00 to the Chewelah Pioneer Cemetery Association. We'll vote again this year on what sort of project we should adopt, if any. Bring your ideas to the picnic in August.

I had a nice thank you from the Chewelah Pioneer Cemetery Association. They said that a check of $200.00 is like a donation from Donald Trump to them. So let's remember to help when we can, even besides the group donation. Another main need besides donations is younger workers.

Note: the picnic was a success where we met last year, even though we were not at the Gazebo. When you arrive watch for the big "Hartill Picnic" sign someplace in the Chewelah Park. That will be where Percy was able to get a reservation for us. We all thank Percy for seeing that this is done and Carolyn for helping me with addresses..
