Springdale Cemetery is located southwest of the town of Springdale. You
can reach it from Hwy 395 by going west on Hwy 292 until you come to the
RR crossing in Springdale, turn left or south and drive approximately
1mi. Turn right onto Cemetery Road for about 1/2 mile. It lies on the
right side of the road.
The city of Springdale owns this cemetery. After a fire several years
ago, many records were lost. This made it so a good cemetery record
was not available. A few years ago a Cemetery Board was formed, to be
responsible for the all of the maintenence and management of the cemetery,
including record keeping. Much work has been done by this new group,
led by Dan Edmonds, to get the cemetery where it is today. Dan occasionally
give me the new burials so it can be complete.
The new committee has replatted the whole cemetery, thus the reason
for two different lot numbers on a large majority of the burials. If
there is only one, that probably means there was not a previous number
known, or it is a burial since the replatting. Be aware if you have
an older number, you will need the new one also to find the burial spot.
There still remain a few unknown burial plots.
There will still be workdays and many volunteers needed to keep the
cemetery in good condition. Much thanks should be given to the group
who saw to it that this cemetery was restored.
I found the cemetery to be in good shape and being used, when I first
walked it, on May 23, 1999. Being so close to Memorial day, there was
a crew busy at work cleaning the cemetery while I did my survey.
I since have merged all my old reading with the current sexton files,
which are up to Oct 07, 2009.
