Lady of the Valley Cemetery was a part of a former Dominican Convent, located across the road from the old Saint Francis Regis Mission. Lady of the Valley is situated directly behind the Convent, which no longer exists, but some of the old buildings are still there. It is located about 2 miles east of Kettle Falls, in what used to be the community of Ward, on the south side of Hwy 395.

Vicki Morris and I visited this cemetery Aug 14, 2000, and found it to be in excellent condition. It is now a part of, "My Parent's Estate Bed & Breakfast." One has to obtain permission to enter the cemetery, which is quite beautiful and very well taken care of. Every headstone listed below is still there, and only a few are getting hard to read. I have not discovered if there were others buried here, besides these 20, which I have digital photos of.

I compared my work with the transcriptions of Mary Richards, found in the NEWash Genealogical book #3, "Rural Area Cemeteries of Stevens County, WA." Much thanks to her work. Another source of information was from the EWGS 1976 edition of Stevens County Tombstone inscriptions copied by Belva Pederson May 27, 1975

(According to Sister Judith at Holy Cross the Dominican Sisters had all of the burials in this cemetery dug up and removed to Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane WA, along with all the headstones in October 2012.)
