Total records = 12.
This cemetery can be reached from Chewelah taking Hwy 395 south about 5mi, turn onto Hwy 231 and continue southwest about 1.5 mi. It can be found near, what is locally
known as, Inkster's and later Potter's corner.
The burial site is in the field on the left side of the road
up the hill a ways, as you head toward Valley. The owners of the property
allow people to walk up to the site. A metal fence surrounds the remaining identified graves.
I only found one headstone here the first time I visited. Several
people told me that there were at least four or more buried here, because there
were that many headstones at one time. I have contacted the family, but
apparently those who would know are no longer living.
On Jun 20, 2001 I revisited the cemetery and found an additional marker
placed there. I have added the names below. I have also changed the name to agree with this new marker,
from Abrahamson Graves, to Old Valley Cemetery.
This cemetery began in about 1906 on an acre of land, donated by a local farmer. It was the first cemetery for the Valley area, situated on Inkster Corner, to be use by the whole community, as it was then.
I surveyed this
cemetery the first time on Aug 8, 1999.
