Muhle Cemetery
Elk, Spokane County, Washington

Lat: 47 59' 03"N, Lon: 117 17' 12"W
T29N R44E Section 30

Transcribed and compiled by Maggie Rail Feb 03, 2000, last edited Aug 17, 2017 [mrail@asisna.com]. Total records = 19.

Driving north on Hwy 2 south of Chattaroy, turn right or east onto the Elk Chattaroy Road and continue for about 10 miles, turning left onto Laurel Road at the intersection. Continue about 2.5 miles. There will be a small lane with a chain across that leads off to the left to this cemetery.

The Muhle cemetery is located on the farm of Mrs. Augusta Sneva, SE of Elk WA. It is thought that this is located on the first pioneer homestead of the area. Mrs. Sneva is a descendent of the Muhle family. At this time in 2017, this cemetery is owned by Mr John Daniel, who is a grandson of Augusta Sneva. His mother 'Millicent Daniel' was the daughter of Augusta Sneva.

This cemetery, which is also known as the Coldsnow Cemetery by some of the locals, dates back to the 1890s and is still being used by family today. It appears to be about 1/4 acre in size and it is situated in the trees within a partial fence. The cemetery is not perpetual care but it appears to be cleaned out a couple times a year and looks like they have been working to improve it.

Entries with an asterisk * I found not stone or marker for and are from the personal knowledge of Mr. Henry Sodhoff or from the May 30, 1959 transcription by Blundell-Lartigue found in the Spokane County Rural Cemetery book pub. 1963 by the Spokane County Genealogical Society.

After transcribing from the May 1959 source, I visited and read this cemetery on Nov 01, 2007, using my digital camera to photograph all existing and legible stones and markers as well as adding from obits. If anyone knows of a burial I missed I would be happy to add them.
