Veterans Cemetery
Roslyn, Kittitas County, Washington

Lat: 47° 13' 12"N, Lon: 120° 59' 58"W

Transcribed and compiled by Maggie Rail 2001. [mrail@asisna.com]. Total records = 175.

This cemetery is one of the cemeteries on the northern side of the southeast group of cemeteries in Roslyn WA. To reach it drive west through Roslyn on Pennsylvania Ave. Continue hanging left till you reach Memorial Road, where you turn left or south. Take the first left and it will be the first cemetery on your right.

This cemetery is situated across the road on the east of the Old County Cemetery which now is Veteran Cemetery #2. On the east is the New City cemetery and on the south is the Moose Cemetery. See map

I found this to be such a joy to read. All the beautiful white headstones, reminding me of Arlington Cemetery. There were a few of the flat headstones, but majority were the traditional white monuments.

The morning of the day I read this cemetery, I started reading up on the hill in the Santa Barbara and Dr Starkovich Cemeteries. At quarter of noon I hear this cannon go off. I took notice, believe me. Then many rifle shots rang out. I had to ask when I went to lunch what it was. It seems that they had a burial in this cemetery that day and when they do they always use the full military style burial rite, with cannon etc.

I surveyed this cemetery on Aug 20, 2001, using pencil and pad, plus my digital camera. I will share photos if I have a good photo of the stone you want. For more information on Roslyn.
