Total records = 20.
The cemetery can be found on Silvercreek Road just past the Community
Church. Take the first left turnoff after passing the church heading north
and drive straight on that road up the hill about a mile. There will be
a turn to the right up to a home, but stay going straight, then it will
curve and go up the hill further.
This cemetery sits on a hill overlooking the valley on the
west side of the Columbia River, now called Lake Roosevelt. The climb
up is quite steep for a car. I imagine it was quite a task to take the
deceased up for burial. Rogers Bar is no more, but there is a Rogers
Bar campground down near the river.
We found it difficult to find. Michelle and I drove up the steep hill
three times before we finally spotted the cemetery. We were told there
was another cemetery near this one, but we could not find it.
We found many unreadable crosses and stones. I have listed a few I
found in some of the old St Michael Mission Death/burial records. They
have an asterisk after them, and this means there is no marker.
Walked and read by Michelle Morris and myself, Jun 21, 2001. We felt
that it looked like there have been many burials here which no longer
have markers. It is possible we missed some existing markers in the
very tall grass.
