To reach cemetery from Hwy 95, about two miles south of Tensed ID turn left onto Sanders Road. Continue for about 2 mi, the church will be on your left. From there continue for .9 mi where you turn left onto a lane for another .7 mi then right into the woods, and you can see the fenced in cemetery ahead.

Marlo Thompson, the pastor at the Free Methodist church in Sanders, was so kind to assist me in finding this cemetery. He also has the only records I could find for both this and Mountain View Cemetery. 208-274-2059. church

This cemetery is where the first town of Sanders was. Some refer to this cemetery incorrectly as Old Sanders. In truth there was a new town of Sanders which developed, but it has no cemetery. Now both are no longer towns, however they still are communities.

In about the center of this cemetery we find a fenced in area where Jacob Sanders is buried. Jacob is the man the town was named after.

I was able to compare my readings with the sexton files. Those with and asterisk * I was not able to find, so I do not have a photo of those stones. It is possible they never did have a marker.

I used my digital camera to read the cemetery. I am willing to share a photo with a family member. I walked the cemetery on Jun 14, 2003.
