To reach cemetery take Hwy 97 north, through Osoyoos to 176th Ave. Turn right and the cemetery will be on your left across from an orchard. Actually an orchard is on the north side also, overlooking the north end of Osoyoos Lake on the east side of the cemetery.

This is the cemetery for the city of Osoyoos, British Columbia. It is owned and maintained by the city. It consists of more than one section. One was the Catholic section, another was the Cremains section, and lawn.

At the north end of the cemetery on the lake side is the first cemetery which now is called the Pioneer Cemetery. It is not a separate cemetery, though it has a name as such. They call it the pioneer section.

I have divided them up as best as I could. I may be off a bit, so please do not hold it against me if I have one in the lawn section that should be in the monumental section. I thought it might be more helpful to find them later. I did not use any information from the city. They would have it totally different.

What I mean by monumental is, these areas are primarily cement. They cover the whole burial area with cement and place the headstone at one end of it. They are not necessarily tall, but they are without any lawn around them. A photo is at the right of this type. Lawn are all flat in the grass and very hard to read, because they do not clean around them only once or twice a year. It is kept groomed as far as mowing the lawn, but one needs to pull grass away to find what is on the markers.

I walked and read this cemetery on Aug 17-18, 2003, using my digital camera. This includes all existing headstones. I would be happy to share my photos, if someone would like one of a family member's stone. I found a few names in the death records, which have no photo or marker.
